Year 5. Unit 2. Animals. Seahorses!

 Seahorses
  • Seahorses are an unusual type of fish with a head that looks like a horse’s head.
  • They do not have scales and they swim in an upright position.
  • They are very slow swimmers, but they can quickly change colour, which provides camouflage to protect them from predators.
  • What makes seahorses truly unique is their way of reproducing.
  • Male seahorses have a pouch where the females deposit the eggs. The males then carry the eggs until they hatch as tiny fully-formed seahorses.
