Year 4. Unit 2. Nutrition: Healthy, balanced meals


It is important to eat a good breakfast. We need energy in the morning. A good breakfast includes fruit, milk and toast or cereal.

For lunch and dinner we need to eat lots of different foods to get a variety of nutrients. Lunch and dinner should always include carbohydrates, vegetables and meat or fish.
We need to eat healthy snacks during the day, for example a sandwich, a piece of fruit or some milk.
  • What did you eat for dinner yesterday? 
  • Was it a healthy, balanced meal? Tell your partner.
    • Example: Yesterday, I had vegetable soup, fish and potatoes for dinner. It was a healthy, balanced meal.
  • What is your favourite healthy snack? Tell your partner.
    • Example: My favourite healthy snack is a banana.
